Facing Life-Limiting Illness & Dying:

Consultation for therapists & your clients

Psychotherapists are caught unaware when a client is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness.  Almost none of us have training in the end-of-life space nor in how to hold intense feelings experienced by therapist and client alike.

Therapists are often unfamiliar with essential services for our clients.  We may hesitate or avoid frank conversations about dying and death.  Our personal experiences with life-limiting illness, dying, death and grief can color the therapeutic relationship.  We struggle with our strong judgments about “not giving up,” “facing death” or “the good death.”

I specialize in consultation with therapists around these concerns.  I provide consultation in different formats:  meeting with your client, speaking to the therapist alone, or holding joint meetings with the therapist and their client.
