FAQs

  • My practice focuses on short-term psychotherapy and consultation.

The form of short term work varies from a single several hour consultation, to focused work for 2-3 months, to meeting episodically.

I also travel with regularity which is important to know if you are looking for consistent meetings. If you are seeking weekly psychotherapy that extends for longer periods of time, I can assist you in locating other psychotherapists.

  • Please email me at mbogradphd@gmail.com.

I use email only for scheduling and logistical arrangements. Please be mindful that confidentiality or privacy cannot be guaranteed through email and so I do not employ it for any matters of clinical import. I check email throughout the day and into early evening. I will always confirm I’ve received your email. If not, please write again.

  • Please contact me to discuss my fee for a 50-minute clinical hour.

I ask to be paid at the beginning of every session for my full fee. I do not accept credit cards.

  • I am not an in-network provider for any insurance such as an HMO. I have opted out as a Medicare provider and do not accept Medicare.

As a licensed psychologist, your insurance plan (if it has out-of-network coverage) may cover some of my fees after your deductible has been met. I ask that you pay my fees in full. I send monthly itemized statements or “Superbills.” You submit them to your insurance plan that will reimburse you directly.

NOTE: You are responsible for verifying and understanding the limits of your coverage, as well as any copayments and deductibles. For out-of-network plans, you are responsible for your deductible and co-pay, as well as for the difference between the usual and customary fee paid by your insurance and my full fee.

  • As is standard for psychotherapists, my policy is to charge for missed scheduled appointments or for appointments that are cancelled without 48-hours’ notice. I will be flexible if your missed scheduled appointment is an emergency.

  • As a psychologist, I do not prescribe medication. I collaborate with psychiatrists and internists who prescribe psychopharmacological medication.

  • I am a practicing end-of-life doula. As a psychotherapist, I integrate EOLD skills and knowledge.

I specialize in working with people who have received life-limiting diagnoses, with families planning for and trying to integrate the future death of a loved one and with anticipatory grief & bereavement.
